Digital literacy has become an important factor influencing the health of older adults (e.g., cardiovascular conditions and mental health), by affect their capability in accessing to healthcare services or digital healthcare tools, as well as receiving notifications of social care supports from local community. In recent decades, an increasing number of health risks from extreme weather events have been observed in England with regional disparity, with preliminary studies investigating the influential socio-economic status for deprived older adults so to build up the basis for NHS digital health strategy in the future.
This interdisciplinary project is proposed in partnership with local city council and national social care organisation, in the aim to get a holistic understanding of healthcare support for older adults resilience against extreme weather among England geographies; through collocating the well-established multi-modal data and tools developed by health care and social services providers, identifying existing gaps and challenges from digital literacy for their emergency responses to extreme weather, so to bring forward scenario-based simulation tools on resilience building recommendations for both healthcare services and social care providers.
