Wenqi is a PhD student in the DRIVE-Health CDT at King’s College London, within the Department of Informatics and the Human-Centred Computing Research Group. She holds a BSc in Computer Science (Human-Computer Interaction) from the University of Manchester and an MSc in Human-Computer Interaction from UCL, where she developed a multidisciplinary foundation in computer science, cognitive psychology, UX design, and social sciences.
Her MSc coursework – collaborating with people with disabilities including those who are visually impaired and individuals with Motor Neuron Disease – sparked her interest in designing innovative technologies to support marginalized communities. Her recent work includes a published paper exploring inclusive social media design for LGBT+ older adults and a research assistantship co-designing an arm movement assessment tool for clinicians and stroke survivors with motor impairments. Her PhD focuses on developing accessible and inclusive technologies that empower people with complex communication needs and other underrepresented populations through participatory, human-centred approaches such as co-design.
